Alice Murdoff, 91, Breckenridge, MN, died December 3, 2006 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN.
Alice was born May 6, 1915 to Andrew and Clara (Kaasa) Sanden at Hendrum, MN. She grew up in the Perley, Minnesota area and graduated from high school. She worked in Fargo and on October 1, 1938 was married to Porter Murdoff.
Alice and Porter farmed and raised their family near Kent, MN. Alice liked doing craft work and became known as the Doll Lady. She sold dolls at craft shows that she had repaired and dressed. Porter would make the stands for her dolls and go along with her to the craft shows before he passed away on April 13, 1994.
Alice was a wonderful cook and always had something baked for any company that stopped in. The coffee pot was always on. She liked flowers, both real and artificial and decorated her home with them. She also liked jewelry and used it to decorate hobby horses, wreaths and other craft projects. Porter and Alice enjoyed dancing and listening to old time polka music. Alice also liked going to the casino, playing cards and quilting. Every Wednesday was Senior's day at the Abercrombie Senior Citizens Center. Many times Alice would pick up ladies in Kent and give them a ride. The family celebrated her 90th birthday party with 80 out of 94 immediate family members in attendance.
She is survived by: Her seven children: Duane (Sharon) Fergus Falls, MN; Elroy (Donna) Kent, MN; Gordon (Faye) Windsor, CO; Beverly Kubela (Dwight Kringler) Wahpeton, ND; Bonnie (Joe) Holecek, Mantorville, MN; Larry, Kent, MN and Paulette (Jim) Edwards, Red Wing, MN; Her 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents: Andrew and Clara Sanden; Her husband: Porter Murdoff; Her brothers: Lloyd, Kenneth, Benjamin and Obert; Her sisters: Ella, Helen and Gladys
Her great-grandchild: Ashton Holecek.
Visitation: Wednesday, December 6, 2006, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday.
