Alice VanTassel

Alice VanTassel, 92 of Breckenridge, MN died on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Catherine's lIving Center. The visitation is at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Sunday, October 28 from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00. The funeral is at Breckenridge Lutheran Church on Monday October 29 at 10:00AM. Pastor Mark Manning is officiating. The interment is at McCaulleyville Cemetery near Kent, MN.
Alice was born near Alice, ND on April 23, 1920 to August and Julianna (Menge) West. She attended school in Dilworth, MN. On August 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Donald Byron VanTassel at the United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. Raising twelve children, she considered her most precious role as that of a mother. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, bird watching, and crocheting. Alice was a member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's circle. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.
Alice is survived by her children, Barbara (James) Jameson of Moorhead, MN, Lyle (Jewel) VanTassel of Breckenridge, MN, Gary (Peggy) VanTassel of Kent, MN, Gail (Jon) Reber of rural Foxhome, MN, Donna (Dick) Ruby of Rural Milnor, ND, Judy VanTassel of Hawley, MN, Debbie Rick of Breckenridge, MN, Bryan (Cindie) VanTassel of Breckenridge, MN, Timothy (Kate) VanTassel of Nampa, Idaho, Tammy Hasbargen of Fergus Falls, MN and Wayne VanTassel of Victoria, British Columbia; her 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; her siblings Lyle (Dorothy) West of Wahpeton, ND, Ross West of Wahpeton, ND, Kenneth (Gwen) West of rural Glyndon, MN, Doris Blakeway and Florence West both of Hawley, MN.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband Donald and her parents August and Julianna; and daughter Carol Platt; her siblings Frank, Rusty, and Tom West.
