Darlene Stevenson, 71, Breckenridge, MN, died September 25, 2006 at St. Francis HealthCare Campus in Breckenridge.

She was born August 15, 1935, in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Leonardo "Slim" and Sarah (Assay) Waasdorp. She grew up in Breckenridge and attended Breckenridge schools, graduating from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1953.

On October 5, 1955, Darlene married James Stevenson at United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. They made their home and raised their son, Bob in Breckenridge. Darlene worked as a sales clerk at her parent's family owned business, "Slim's New and Used Furniture" now known as Slim's Home Furnishings in Breckenridge. When her parent's health failed she cared for them until Slim passed away in 1977 and Sarah in 1992.

Darlene enjoyed sewing, embroidering, cooking and gardening. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Breckenridge.

She is survived by: Her husband: James Stevenson, Breckenridge, MN; Her son: Robert James (Karen) Stevenson, Indianapolis, IN; Her sister: Elizabeth (Darrell Dean) Hingst, Underwood, MN

She was preceded in death by: Her parents: Leonardo and Sarah Waasdorp; Her brother: Lee Waasdorp; He sister: Alice Ingberg

Visitation: Thursday, September 28, 2006, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge

Funeral: Friday, September 29, 2006 at 11:00 A.M at      United Methodist Church, Breckenridge, MN

Officiating: Pastor Terry Tilton

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN
