Dorothy Ann Jensen, 78, of rural Doran, MN, died March 13, 2005 at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls, MN. Her funeral will be Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Vukku Lutheran Church, Doran, MN. Pastor John Andrews will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2005, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service at Vukku Lutheran Cemetery, Doran, MN.
Dorothy is survived by: Her 2 daughters: Faye (Frank) Klein, Fargo, ND; and Julie Jensen, Doran, MN; Her 2 grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) Gill, Bismarck, ND; and Jennifer Gill, Fargo, ND; Her great-grandchild: Farrah Gill, Fargo, ND; Her sister: Gladys (Orville) Furreness, Underwood, MN. She was preceded by: Her husband: Arnold Jensen; Her first husband: Kenneth Nelson; Her parents: Clarence and Ella Hansen; Her 2 sisters: Eleanor Findlay and Bernice Baker; Her brother: Roger Hansen.
Dorothy was born June 1, 1926, to Clarence and Ella (Degner) Hansen in Bradford Township near Doran, MN. She grew up in that area and attended country school. She then went on to school in Doran and then Breckenridge High School, graduating in 1945. While Dorothy attended high school she worked at Wrights Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN. Following high school she worked at a bakery in Fergus Falls. Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Nelson on June 22, 1947. One year after their marriage Kenneth passed away. Dorothy then became employed at Star Laundry in Fergus Falls. On May 22, 1955, Dorothy was married to Arnold Jensen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. The couple made their home on a farm east of Doran, and in 1961 they purchased the farmstead she was presently living on. Arnold preceded her in death on August 18, 2004.
Dorothy was a member of Vukku Lutheran Church. She liked to quilt for the church and for others who enjoyed receiving them. She also enjoyed canning, embroidering and raising flowers. Her neighbors will miss the homemade donuts she made and shared with them.
