Edward Sheehy, 92, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Nashua, MN passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at St. Francis Nursing Home of Breckenridge, MN.
Edward was born on December 18, 1912 to Thomas and Roxanne (Vincent) Sheehy in Searsboro, IA. He was baptized in St. Bernard's Church of Searsboro and confirmed at St. Mary's Church of Grinnell, IA. In 1919 he moved with his family to a farm near Wendell, MN and began school there. In 1925 they moved back to Iowa and returned in 1928. He then attended high school in Wendell and Elbow Lake, MN and graduated in 1931. He worked with his father in Wendell as a dairy and small grain farmer until 1944 when he moved to Nashua to his own farm. He farmed there until 1992 when he was 80 years old. Ed stayed on the farm until April, 2004, when he became a resident of St. Francis Home, Breckenridge, MN.
Edward was an active member of St. Gall's Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was also a member of Knight of Columbus of Millerville, MN. As a youth Edward enjoyed playing baseball and softball and later in life enjoyed reading, youth sports and gardening. Edward spent time as a volunteer driver for senior citizens in Wilkin County and took many people to Wahpeton and Fargo for doctor appointments.
Edward's devotion to his church and Catholic religion served as an example to all who knew and loved him.
Edward is survived by: his brother, Eugene Sheehy, Bethlehem, PA; his three sisters, Dorothy Sand, Barrett, MN, Helen Miller, Elbow Lake, MN, Ruth (Albert)Beckman, Fergus Falls, MN; his sister-in-law, Marlys Sheehy, Panama City Beach, FL; his special family, Jim and Jeanne Putnam and Family; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward is preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Gerald Sheehy; his brothers-in-law, Edmund Sand and Harold Miller
Visitation: Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, MN with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
