Eunice Baird

Eunice I. Baird, 92, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Ashby, MN, died August 16, 2007 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge. Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, Breckenridge, MN, with Pastor Terry Tilton officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. Interment will be at the Worthington Cemetery in Worthington, MN on a later date.

Eunice is survived by: Her daughter: Jeanne (Larry) Osborn, Wahpeton, ND; Her sons: Richard "Dick" (Norma Jean) Baird, Crystal, MN; John Richard "Rick" (Darlene) Baird, Aitkin, MN; Jerry (Bonnie) Baird, Woodbury, MN; Her half brother: James "Jim" Osborn, Springfield, MO; Her 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents: John and Bertha Osborn; Her husband: Lester Baird; Her son: James Lester "Jim" Baird; Her sister: Inez Marie Bonnett; Her brother: Darrel William Osborn

Eunice was born January 8, 1915 in Spring Township near Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of John and Bertha (Aldrich) Osborn. She grew up on the farm and attended school at the Brooke Consolidated School near Peterson, Iowa. Following her formal education, Eunice worked on the farm until she moved with her family to Aurelia, Iowa then Cherokee, Iowa. Eunice did housework for people in Cherokee and then worked as a waitress in Worthington,MN.

On June 30, 1940, Eunice was married to Lester Baird in Cherokee. They farmed at Reading, MN and in 1946 moved to Lynd, MN where they also farmed. In 1979 the couple moved to Pelican Lake near Ashby, MN where they retired. They loved to fish and travel which took them to 49 of 50 states and to the Holy Land. Lester preceded her in death on December 31, 1999, at the age of 94. Eunice continued living near Ashby until February, 2002, when she moved to the York Manor in Breckenridge, MN. She became a resident of St Francis Home in June, 2006.

Eunice was a member of the Presbyterian Churches in Reading, Marshall, and Ashby, MN. She was also a member of the United Methodist Churches in Lynd and Breckenridge, MN. Eunice enjoyed being a farmer's wife, fishing, doing needlework, traveling, and get-togethers with family and friends. Her treasures were her Lord, her Lester, her family, and her friends. Blessed be the memory of Eunice Baird.
