Evelyn Smith

September 29, 1914 — June 19, 2005

Evelyn Lucille Koch Smith, 90, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, MN. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at United Methodist Church in Breckenridge with Pastor Terry Tilton officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 20, 2005 from 5 to 7:00 PM at the Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church.



Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Pat (Stan) Struble, Moorhead, MN, Phyllis (Don) Kerr, Blaine, MN; her one son, Tim Smith, Breckenridge, MN and friend, Zinda Rende, Wheaton, MN; her four grandchildren, Dawn, Ann, Lynn, and Erin; her nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Eliza, Sage, Lily, Abby, Katie, John, Enya, and Jake; and her special friend, Lora Mae Zluticky, the only surviving member of Martha Circle.



Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth T. Smith; her parents, Louis and Lucinda Koch; and her brother, Donald Koch.



Evelyn was born on September 29, 1914 in St. Cloud, MN. Her parents, Lucinda (Gregory) Koch and Louis Ludwig Koch raised her in St. Cloud. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School and from St. Cloud Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in physical education. Evelyn taught school in Pipestone, MN and Breckenridge.

Evelyn married Kenneth Smith on October 29, 1938 in Sisseton, SD. They moved from Eagle Bend, MN to Breckenridge in 1943 and raised three children. She lived in Breckenridge for the rest of her life and was continually active in her church and in many civic organizations.

Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church.
