Evelyn Stach, 81, of rural Wolverton, MN, died on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN with Fr. Kenneth Popp officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 4 PM to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Kent, MN.
Evelyn was born January 13, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Selma (Langseth) Fobes in Moorhead, MN. She grew up and attended school in Glyndon, MN and Wolverton, MN, graduating from Wolverton High School in 1943.
On February 17, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage to William "Bill" Stach in Glyndon. In their early married life they farmed near Henning, MN and Breckenridge, MN, later farming the family farm near Wolverton, where they have since resided. Evelyn worked beside Bill on the family farm and kept a very large garden that Evelyn and Bill are so well known for. Evelyn worked at the Moorhead Library, helped with the 1990 census, was a bookkeeper for Turner's Sand and Gravel and also did some in-home care for a couple of her neighbors.
Evelyn was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent, and the VFW Auxiliary in Wahpeton, ND. She enjoyed crocheting, making lap robes for VA patients, gardening, canning, genealogy, making loom rugs and spending time with her family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Stach of rural Wolverton, MN; her son, William "Bill" Stach Jr. of Wahpeton, ND; her daughters, Sandy Miller of Centralia, WA, Peggy Turner of Rutland, ND, Jean (Jerry) Russell of Lake Park, MN, Sue (Jeff) Rasmussen of Wolverton, MN; her 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jimmy (Joanne) Fobes, Glyndon, MN; her sister, Joanne Lynch, Bellingham, WA; her sister-in-law, Glenda (Dennis) Fobes-Ziemer, Fargo, ND; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Selma Fobes; her brother, Maurie Fobes; her infant sister; her two additional mothers, Florence Peterson and Helen Langseth; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Pallbearers will be LeRoy Turner, Mike Aigner, Randy Stach, Wayne Mohs, Doug Brunsvold, Jeff Fobes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Evelyn's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who called Evelyn "friend."
