Florence Baker, 88, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Breckenridge, MN, died March 3, 2005 at Silver Ridge Healthcare Center, Las Vegas, NV. Her funeral will Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, MN. Pastor Burt Benson will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, ND
Florence is survived by: Her 3 sons: Rodney (Karen) Baker, San Antonio, TX; Dale Baker, Las Vegas, NV; and Barry (Sandra) Baker, New Braunfels, TX; Her 3 grandchildren: Kirsten Jordan, Dallas, TX; Stefani Schulze, Phoenix, AZ; and Benjamin Baker, New Braunfels, TX; Her new great-granddaughter: Kathryn Rose Jordan; Her sister: Lillian Hodges, South St. Paul, MN

Florence Alvina Boetcher was born on December 9, 1916, in Fairmount, ND, one of eight children born to Robert Friedrich and Ottillie Bertha (Tanck) Boetcher. After the death of her father in 1928, she moved with her family to Wahpeton, ND. Florence completed school through the 8th grade at Wahpeton High School. She then worked to help support the family. On August 31, 1940, Florence married John George Baker at Hankinson, ND. The couple made their home in Breckenridge, MN and had three sons. John was very active in the community as a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and as commander of the American Legion Post. John preceded her in death on August 3, 1960, at the age of 48. Florence worked for various businesses while living in Breckenridge, including Stoebe's Grocery, Vada's Steakhouse, Kelly's Steakhouse and the Stop-n-Go Convenience Store. Even with the untimely passing of John, she was able to help put her sons through college.
After living 60 years on 10th street in Breckenridge, Florence moved to New Braunfels, Texas in 2001, then to Las Vegas, NV in 2002 where she passed away on the afternoon of March 3, 2005. She was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Breckenridge.
