Francis Joseph Freese was born December 26, 1926 in Breckenridge, MN to Barney and Thelka (Hoefkes) Freese. His entire life was spent in the Breckenridge and Kent area where he attended school and farmed.

Francis was united in marriage to LouElla Krump on April 15, 1948 in Kent. Together they raised an active family and successfully grew the family farm, which they turned over to their son Pat as they transitioned into semi-retirement. His heart and desire never left that farm even through his retirement and more recent health challenges.

Francis was also an active and contributing member of the community: serving as a member of township boards, school, church, and social group boards. Several accomplishments of which he was particularly proud of were his tenure within the Catholic Order of Foresters and his 1978 selection as Outstanding Farmer in Wilkin County.
