Gereta Elaine Kath, 93, Breckenridge, MN, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton, ND.



Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church , Breckenridge, with Pastor Burt Benson officiating.



Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge , MN . There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church.



Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery , Campbell , MN .



Gereta is survived by: Her son: Larry (Karen) Kath, Campbell, MN; Her daughters: Darilyn Thiel, Wahpeton, ND; Elaine (Austin) Culp, Battle Lake, MN; Marlis (James) Vlasaty, Breckenridge, MN; 17 Grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; Her special friend, Margaret Johnson



She was preceded in death by: Her husband: Clarence F. “Shorty” Kath; Her parents: Fred and Laura Larson; Her brother: Edward Larson; Her sister: Myrtle Ewert; Her grandson: Kevin Thiel; Her great-granddaughter: Crystal Terfehr; Her great-great grandson: Landon Olthoff; Her son-in-law: Wilbert Thiel



Gereta was born April 9, 1915, to Fred and Laura (Boelter) Larson in Adrian , ND . She was baptized April 11, 1915 at home and confirmed in her faith on April 13, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitkin , MN .



On October 4, 1935 Gereta was united in marriage to Clarence “Shorty” Kath at St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church in Campbell , MN . The couple farmed near Tenney , MN until they retired in 1974 and moved in to Breckenridge in 1976. Shorty preceded her in death on September 20, 1991.



Gereta was a faithful member of St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church in Campbell and then transferred her membership to Grace Lutheran Church in Breckenridge. She was a voting member of Grace Church and active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League where she had served as secretary. She was a member of the Altar Guild, the Memorial Committee, and the Quilter’s Guild (where she sewed over 1000 quilt tops for missions.) She worked as a part time leader of the Women’s Bible Study Group as well as a member of the Sunday morning Bible study class. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Gereta worked on the Good Shepherd program of the church and did some volunteer work. She was also a 4-H leader for many years.
