Gertrude Draeger, 75, of Breckenridge, MN, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Gustafson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gertrude was born October 15, 1928 at Kintyre, ND, the daughter of William and Katherina (Junkert) Schulz. She was raised and educated in the Kintyre and Napoleon area. Gertrude later married and farmed in the Napoleon area with her husband. Following their retirement from farming in 1969 she worked with her husband in a gardening and landscaping business in various cities in North Dakota and South Dakota. In 1981 they moved to a lake home near Clitherall, MN. William preceded her in death on May 27, 1985. Gertrude moved to Battle Lake where she managed the Battle Lake Motel and cleaned the Battle Lake Clinic. She also cared for elderly people who needed help living in their homes. Gertrude moved to Breckenridge in October, 2001, where she made her home at the York Manor. Gertie attended Breckenridge Lutheran Church in Breckenridge. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with her family and friends and caring for others. Gertrude will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life and her giving to others in their time of need.
She is survived by: Her daughter: Georgia (Curt) Dufault, Breckenridge, MN; Her 3 sons: Ken (Jan) Hellmuth, Hazen, ND; Tom (Marcy) Hellmuth, Ventura, CA; Bill Draeger, Tolstoy, SD; Her 2 step-daughters: Sally (Bob) Myster, Prior Lake, MN; Pat (Butch) Hansen, Prior Lake, MN; Her 2 step-sons: Art (Joan) Draeger, Prior Lake, MN; Frank (Terry) Draeger, Kasson, MN; Her 25 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Several great-grandchildren; Her sister: Laura (Willie) Hellmuth, Napoleon, ND
She was preceded in death by her husband: William A. Draeger; Her parents: William and Katherina Schulz; and 6 brothers and 3 sisters
