Gertrude Oscarson, 93, of Breckenridge, MN passed away at St. Francis Healthcare Campus on Sunday, March 26, 2006. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge, MN. Father Kenneth Popp will be officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM and a Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:30 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton, ND.
Gertrude is survived by: her daughters: Marlys Phillips of Wahpeton, ND, Donna Backer of Breckenridge, MN and Judi (Bill) Junge, Las Vegas, NV; her son, Thomas (Pam) Oscarson, Red Lake Falls, MN; her eleven grandchildren; her eighteen great-grandchildren; her three great-great grandchildren; her two sisters: Dorris Mauch of Mantador, ND, and Josephine Bryant of Denver, CO; her brother: Ernest Nordick of Moorhead, MN.
She was preceded by: her parents, her husband: Art Oscarson; her son: James Oscarson; her grandson: Todd Junge, her son-in-law: David Phillips, her brothers: Albert, Harold, and Edward Nordick; her sisters: Helen Conzemius, Marion Arnoldy, Sister Karen (Bertha) Nordick, Margaret Larson, and Florence Slacker.
Gertrude was born on October 20, 1912 to Casper and Eva (Link) Nordick in Breckenridge, MN. She grew up on a farm east of Breckenridge and attended school in Breckenridge. She worked at various places including the Wilkin CafAsh, the Telephone Company, and also the Rationing Office in Breckenridge.
On June 13, 1946 Gertrude was united in marriage to Art Oscarson in Moorhead, MN. They then moved to a dairy farm near Campbell, MN and operated that farm for 34 years. In 1979 they moved to Breckenridge and Art preceded her in death on September 22, 1982. Gert continued living in her home until she moved to St. Francis Nursing Home in 2000.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening her flowers, playing cards, and especially the time spent with her family.
