Hazel Hasbargen was born on November 30, 1925 in Sunnyside Township, daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Owen) Hiedeman. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Breckenridge and later confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Foxhome. In her youth, Hazel enjoyed 4-H, piano and, of course, playing baseball with the Hiedeman family. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1942.

Hazel married Warren Hasbargen on July 11, 1943 at the Breckenridge Methodist Church. They lived on a farm near Wheaton, Minnesota for one year prior to moving to a farm in Sunnyside Township, which they purchased a few years later. They resided there until moving to Breckenridge in 1973. They were members of the Foxhome Lutheran Church where Hazel was actively involved and later the Breckenridge Lutheran Church.

The church was an important part of her religious and social life. She both enjoyed its support and the opportunity it brought for service to her family and community. Her family especially remembers the flowers from her garden, the "just right" taste of apple pie, and most of all, the empathy she had for the feelings of others. We will carry this with us forever.

Hazel was a weekly volunteer at the St. Francis Hospital. She taught Sunday school and Bible School. She also served as mission secretary, President of Foxhome ALCW, and officer of various committees, such as making quilts. Hazel was also active in the ALCW in Breckenridge. She was active in homemakers and as a 4-H leader. As a homemaker she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening along with helping out on the farm. Her hobbies included flower gardening, quilting, and painting. She enjoyed sports and was active in a bowling league for many years. Hazel spent much time watching her grandchildren play sports. She especially enjoyed going to musicals and plays. For several years Hazel and Warren wintered in Arizona, enjoying retirement and golf.

She is survived by her husband, Warren, her two sons and two daughters, and their families, Mike (Vernae) of rural Breckenridge and their children Marc (Kristen), Michelle (Carlo) Rada, and Matt (Katie); Carol (Gerald) Baumann of Renville, MN and their children Nickolas (Tracy) and William (Mary); Joyce (Steven) Caspers of Breckenridge and their children Gregory (Amanda) and Michael (Kelly); and David (Wayne Zimmerman) of Oxbow, ND and their children Matthew (Marisa) Zimmerman and Brandon Zimmerman; and three great-grandchildren, August Hasbargen, Alexander Hasbargen, and Colton Rada. She is also survived by her sisters, Ethel Peterson, Breckenridge, and Cora (Armand) Johnson, Shelton, WA. and brothers Raymond (Shirley), Alexandria, MN, Herbert (Phyllis), Wahpeton, ND, and Richard (Barbara), Breckenridge and her sister-in-laws Monica Hiedeman, Mabel Hiedeman, Mae Hiedeman and Jackie Hiedeman, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Arthur; and daughter, Marjorie; and her brothers George, Russell, Harold, and Earl.
