Herbert Ritchie, 80, of Kent, MN passed away in Fargo, ND on Saturday, July 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN with Father Andrew Marthaler officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery of Kent, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2005 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
Herbert is survived by: his wife, Gladys; his children, Annette (Don) Sharp, Ontario CA, Connie (Carlos) Aloise, Alto Loma, CA Steven (Janet) Ritchie, Fargo, ND, Duane (Donna) Ritchie, Glendora, CA, Sherri Mutalipassi, Glendora, CA; his brother, Paul Ritchie, Sacramento, CA; his twelve grandchildren; his twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews
Herbert was preceded in death by: his parents, Howard and Cora Ritchie; his brother, Warren Ritchie; his two sisters, Beatrice Chamberlin and Maude Johnk; his two grandchildren, Jessica Ritchie and Jeremy Ritchie.
Herbert was born on September 22, 1924 to Howard and Cora (Elliot) Ritchie at Erhard, MN. He grew up and attended country school in the Erhard area. After his schooling he worked for local area farmers. He served in the US Army, 101st Airbourne, from 1942 to 1946.
On September 10, 1947 he married Gladys Hulne in Kent, MN. He farmed and worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion of Abercrombie, ND and St. Thomas Catholic Church of Kent, MN. He enjoyed reading westerns, fishing, and listening to the Minnesota Twins on the radio.
