Hollis Krier

Hollis Krier, 95, of Breckenridge, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be Friday, September 1, 2006 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN with Father Richard Walz officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, ND.

Hollis is survived by: his 2 sons, Ronald and Cindy Krier of Breckenridge, MN and William and his fiancAshe Connie Cirincione of Torrance, CA; his daughter, Holly and Frank Gregor of Wahpeton, ND; his 4 grandchildren, Misty (Ric) Arenstein, Shane (Alyson) Krier, Tim (Tally) Gregor and Sarah Gregor; his 4 great-grandchildren, Erika and Beau Arenstein and Makenna and Ty Gregor.

He was preceded by: his parents, his wife, Violet Krier; his 3 brothers, Carl, Harold, and Howard Krier; his 3 sisters, June Plaisted, Wilma Trandem, and Lucille Sandstrom.

Hollis was born on August 18, 1911 to William and Addie (Stoltenberg) Krier in Breckenridge, MN. He grew up and attended school in Breckenridge. He worked for the Wilkin County Highway Department until he began working as a fireman on the Great Northern Railroad and worked his way up to engineer.

On October 15, 1940, Hollis was united in marriage to Violet Trupka in Wahpeton, ND. They made their home in Breckenridge. Violet preceded him in death on March 7, 2006. Hollis was resident of the Pioneer Senior Cottages in Breckenridge. Hollis and Violet were devoted to their family, their church, and community.

Hollis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Wilkin County Historical Society, and a former member of the Breckenridge Fire Department. He liked working on engines, railroad novelties, and playing with his trains at home with his grandchildren. Hollis also enjoyed caring for his lawn and garden with Vi and helping his neighbors when needed.
