Lila Alzheimer, 73, of Breckenridge, MN died December 1, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Her funeral will be Monday, December 6, 2004 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN, Officiated by Fr. Kenneth Popp. Visitation will be Sunday, December 5, 2004, from 4:00PM - to 7:30 PM, with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:00 PM and Prayer Service at 7:30 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation on Monday at the funeral home from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN.

Lila is survived by:Her husband: Bernie; Her 2 daughters: Annie, West Fargo, ND; and Carla (Chris) Berger, Becker, MN; Her 3 grandchildren: Jill Alzheimer, St. Paul, MN; Jason (Laisa) Alzheimer, Apple Valley,MN; Josie Berger, Becker, MN; Her brother: Clayton (Dorothy) Foley, Laconner, WA; and a special lady in her life, Sandie Worner, Red Wing, MN.

She was preceded by: Her parents: Wilson and Elizabeth Foley;Her first husband: James A. Drey; Her son: James Drey Alzheimer; Her 2 sisters: Marg Dablow and Lou Ann Becker; Her brother: Lawrence Foley; Her daughter-in-law: Jolie Sasseville; Her step-granddaughter: Chelsea Melvin



Lila M. Foley was born April 25, 1931 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Elizabeth (Rauch) and Wilson F. Foley. As a young child, she moved to Breckenridge, MN, where she attended school, graduating in 1949. Lila moved to Minneapolis, MN. On August 11, 1951, she married James Drey, and they made their home in Minneapolis. He died in 1952. On March 2, 1957, Lila married Bernard Alzheimer, and they made their home in Breckenridge. Lila worked at St. Francis Medical Center for over 30 years. She retired in 1999. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge.

Lila served on the board of the United Way of Richland/Wilkin County, the Southern Valley Health Watch, and at the time of her death was a member of the Hospice Board and also the Mayor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.

Lila had a great love for the mentally handicapped, and in 1999 organized a Prom Night for them in the Breckenridge/Wahpeton area. She was so proud of these people, and continued organizing various activities for their enjoyment.

Lila enjoyed her retirement and enjoyed spending time at the family's lake home on Ottertail Lake, playing piano, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She so enjoyed making holidays special for her family.
