Lloyd M. King, 84, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Breckenridge, MN, died March 6, 2006 in Wahpeton. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN, with Fr. Kenneth Popp officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15th, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation on Thursday morning from 8:30 AM -11:15 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN.
Lloyd is survived by: His 7 children: William (Rose Marie) King, Wahpeton, ND; Nancy (Paul) Melland,Mesa, AZ; Bonnie (Frank) Allard, Wahpeton, ND; Robert King, Glencoe, MN; Roy (Jean) King, Breckenridge, MN; Barb Coppin, Breckenridge, MN; Mary King, Heidelberg, Germany; His 18 grandchildren, 37great-grandchidren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Lloyd M. King was born November 22, 1921 in Fairmount, ND, the son of Matthew and Myrtle (Albright) King. He grew up and attended country school west of Fairmount, then farmed with his family in that area.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Shirley Anderson on February 9, 1945 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND, where the couple resided. Lloyd worked for the Great Northern Railroad. The couple later moved to Hankinson, ND where they managed the Anderson Hotel. In 1965, they moved to Breckenridge, MN, and Lloyd continued working for the Great Northern. He worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, he and Shirley continued living in Breckenridge. Shirley preceded him in death on December 3, 1994.
Lloyd was a member of St. Mary's Church in Breckenridge, the Retired Railroad Employees, and the Eagles Club Aerie 2749 in Wahpeton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, softball, and especially time spent playing cards with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
