Lorene Jerome, 88, Breckenridge, MN, died February 17, 2005 at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, MN with Pastor Michael Gustafson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2005, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
She is survived by:Her 2 sisters: Luverna Hauschild, Lawrence, Kansas; June (Charles) Edwards, Wahpeton, ND; Her sister-in-law: Catherine Dobricka, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Several nieces and nephews; Many cousins.
She was preceded by: Her parents: Carl and Mabel Dobricka; Her brother: Lloyd Dobricka; Her brother-in-law: Wallace Hauschild
Lorene Dobricka was born January 30, 1917, the daughter of Carl and Mabel (Eichhorn) Dobricka near Southerland, Iowa. When she was 3 years old, she moved with her family to a farm near Fairmount, ND. She attended country school at Summit Township until 1928, when her family moved to Breckenridge, MN. Lorene then attended Breckenridge schools, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1935. Following graduation she worked at several businesses in Breckenridge/Wahpeton, including Hart's CafAsh, Altstatt Drug, J. C. Penney, Sagness Variety Store and Schreiber Real Estate. Lorene was married to Frank Jerome in March, 1945. They divorced in 1957. In 1960, she was appointed Motor Vehicle Deputy Registrar by Joseph L. Donavon, Secretary of the State of Minnesota. She served in that capacity until February 1, 1982, when she retired. She moved in to the York Manor in Breckenridge that same year.
Lorene was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church and Circle and served as Financial Secretary there for 12 years. She was also a member of the Wahpeton Eagles Club Aerie 2749 and Life Member of the Breckenridge VFW Auxiliary 2766. In her younger years Lorene enjoyed gardening and canning and later enjoyed watching major league baseball.
