Myrtle then furthered her education at St. Luke's Hospital Nursing School at Fergus Falls and 1 year internship in St. Paul, MN. She then returned to Fergus Falls and worked at St. Luke's Hospital there.
On July 23, 1936, Myrtle was united in marriage to Hans Steenbock at Vukku Lutheran Church. They were the first couple married at the church. Myrtle and Hans lived in Bradford Township and Champion Township where they farmed. In 1950, the couple moved to Campbell, MN. Myrtle returned to work in Fergus Falls in the late 1950's, and worked at Lake Region Medical Center until the late 1970's. Hans preceded her in death on January 16, 1994. Myrtle continued living in Campbell until June, 2003, when she moved to the Pioneer Home in Fergus Falls, MN.
Myrtle was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Campbell, and former member of the American Red Cross and Champion Homemaker's Club.
