Phyllis Sander

December 3, 1929 — August 14, 2006

Phyllis A. Ness Sander passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 14, 2006, after a courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis and other serious health problems. Phyllis was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota on December 3, 1929 to Thomas and Alice Ness and was the older sister to Janice Ness who currently resides in Fargo, North Dakota and Sandra Anderson of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Phyllis graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1947. She graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in 1949 and married Richard (Dick) S. Sander in 1951. Phyllis and Dick had been married 55 years at the time of her passing. Phyllis was a wonderful mother to their three children Kay, Chip and Annie and focused her love and energy on their upbringing. Phyllis loved to entertain, play bridge, cook and visit with her friends, of whom there were many. She also loved numbers and after raising their children worked in the finance area for several companies. Phyllis will be greatly missed, but not forgotten, by her friends and family, including her husband Dick, her children Kay Dunnigan of San Anselmo, California, Chip Sander of Golden, Colorado, Annie Butler of Atlanta, Georgia, her sons and daughter-in-laws Joe Dunnigan, Heather Sander and Rocky Butler, and her seven grandchildren and two step grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge, Minnesota at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2006. In lieu of flowers, Dick requests that contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Sacramento. Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home of Breckenridge, MN is handling arrangements.
