Ruby V. Heinen, 85, Wahpeton, ND, died September 20, 2005 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. Her funeral will be Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 8:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Fr. Dale Lagodinski officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND.

Ruby was born on March 11, 1920 to Anton and Christine (Cole) Peterson in Wheaton, MN. She attended country school in the Wheaton area. After her education she helped neighbors in the area.
On August 2, 1940 Ruby was united in marriage to Edgar Heinen in Wheaton. Ruby lived with her parents while Edgar was in the Army stationed in Utah. After Edgar's discharge from the Army they farmed near Wheaton and Ruby did some bookkeeping and also worked at a restaurant in Rosholt, SD. They later moved to White Rock, SD where she was the town clerk. In 1973 they moved to Wahpeton, ND. Edgar preceded her in death on August 1, 1981. Ruby continued living in Wahpeton. She then began working in housekeeping at St. Catherine's Living Center.
Ruby was a member of Royal Neighbors and is remembered for her piano playing and singing with her brother. She also sang on the radio and played at dances. Ruby is also remembered for her baking of Swedish treats for the holidays.
