Wilma Sanborn

Wilma Sanborn, 90, of Breckenridge, MN passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge.

Wilma was born on May 7, 1914 to William and Anna (Mussman) Houghtaling on a farm east of Foxhome, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school at Foxhome and then attended and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. After graduation she worked for the Post Office in Foxhome. On February 17, 1935 Wilma was united in marriage to Harvey Sanborn in Wahpeton, ND. They made their home in Wahpeton until 1963 when they moved to Breckenridge, MN. Harvey preceded her in death in 1983 and she continued to live in Breckenridge.

Wilma enjoyed tending to her flower garden, bowling, and traveling with Harvey. She was active at Immanuel Lutheran Church, served on the Girl Scouts Council in Wahpeton, and she was a local, state, and national officer with the Women?s Relief Corps. Wilma enjoyed spending time with her siblings, her nieces, nephews, and especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Anna (Jim) McGarry, Big Fork, MN, and Barbara Sanborn, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her five grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by, her parents; her husband, Harvey Sanborn; her two brothers, Joseph Houghtaling and Sherman Houghtaling; her three sisters, Alice Willemssen, Ruth Henderson, and Alta Glander; and an infant at childbirth.

Visitation: Friday, May 6, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND

Burial: Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, ND
