Burnette Clausen

November 9, 1919 — July 17, 2005

Burnette "Bernie" Clausen, 85, of Campbell, MN passed away on July 17, 2005 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Faith Community Church, Campbell, MN with Pastor Tim Ystebo officiating. Interment will be at Hamar Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsay, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2005 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burnette was born on November 9, 1919 in Ambrose, ND to Bert and Agot Thompson. She grew up in rural Ambrose. As a young woman she moved to Minnesota where she worked at Cox's Bakery in Fergus Falls, MN. She later moved to Foxhome, MN where she worked at The Coach Restaurant, and met her husband, Buck. Ervin (Buck) Clausen and Burnette were married on May 16th 1945, in Fergus Falls. Throughout their married life they lived in the Foxhome, Nashua, and Campbell area. In the early years of their marriage, Burnette and Buck owned and operated a restaurant in Campbell, and later operated the Mobil Station and Bulk Plant. Burnette worked for several years at the Travel Host in Wahpeton, ND and also at The Corner Bar and Ranch House Bar in Campbell.

Burnette enjoyed bowling and took several trips to state and national tournaments. She was a member of The Eastern Star and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2749. She and Buck also belonged to the local Square Dance Club. She loved meeting and talking to people and made many, many friends. Her beloved husband, Buck passed away in 1994.

Burnette is survived by two daughters, Candee (Dennis Lattimore), Moorhead, MN, RoxAnn (Jerry) Korinek, Hopkins, MN; two grandchildren, Shari (Mike) Cichon, Fargo, ND, Jason (Amanda) Korinek, Brooklyn Park, MN; one great-grandson: James Cichon, Fargo, ND; three brothers: Clarence (Doris) Thompson, Crosby, ND, Barry Thompson, Minneapolis, MN, Arden (Janis) Thompson, Stanley, ND; one sister, Lana (Roger) Watterud, Minneapolis, MN

Burnette is preceded by, her parents, her husband, Buck, her step-mother, Lil, her brother, Martin, her sisters, Rose and Patrice and a baby sister, Linda.
