Clarence Anderson

March 3, 1921 — April 13, 2005

Clarence L. Anderson, 84, of Wyndmere, North Dakota, died April 13, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fargo, ND. His funeral will be Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND. Pastor Jack Carlson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2005 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be Monday, April 18, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Clarence is survived by: His wife: Doris Anderson, Wyndmere, ND; His 3 children: Curtis (Barb) Anderson, Austin, TX; Connie (Keith) Duncan, Bismarck, ND; and Steven Anderson, Lisbon, ND; His 7 grandchildren: Greg and Pam; Rhonda, Shane and Cody; Jim and Jesse; His 15 great-grandchildren; His sister: LouElla (Bill) King, Lebanon, MO

He was preceded by:His parents: Alfred and Georgianna Anderson; His 2 brothers: Elmer and Edwin;

Clarence was born March 3, 1921 in Gwinner, ND, the son of Alfred L. and Georgianna (Hiam) Anderson. He attended school in Gwinner and graduated from high school there in 1939. Clarence then moved to San Diego, CA and worked at a B-24 Airplane factory for a few months before he joined the Army Air Force on October 16, 1942. He served as an airplane electrical mechanic until his separation on November 25, 1945.

Following his return from the service, Clarence was united in marriage to Loretta Schutt in Reno, Nevada. The couple made their home in Gwinner, ND, where Clarence worked on his parent's farm and helped with the construction of the Melroe plant. He then bought a gas station/cafAsh with his brother, Edwin and ran that for 13 years. In 1964, Clarence built the Siesta Motel and Lounge in Wyndmere, ND. He owned and operated that business for over 29 years.

Clarence was married to Doris Anderson on March 23, 1978 in New Port Riche, Florida. The couple made their home in Wyndmere and worked the motel/lounge until selling it on July 1, 1984.

Clarence was a member of the Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Brown-Nelson American Legion, 40-8, and a member of the Wahpeton Eagle's Club. He enjoyed dancing, playing pool and cards, and spending time at his lake cabin on Stalker Lake.
