Clark Olaf Gilbertson, 55, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. The funeral will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Pastor Mark Manning will be officiating.
Clark was born on September 18, 1961, in Ada, MN, one of three children born to Clark and Betty (Rogers) Gilbertson. He attended school in Twin Valley, MN. Following high school, he worked in construction, specializing in the driving of cement truck and then later, in the building of grain elevators. After moving to Breckenridge 25 years ago, Clark worked various jobs in the community including, the Blazer, Stop-N-Go, StaMart, and the Daily News. He also worked for the Fargo Forum as a delivery driver between Fargo, Abercrombie and Wahpeton.
Clark had a love for bald eagles and a passion for sports, with wrestling being his favorite. He had an extensive sports card collection and was also a NASCAR enthusiast. He single-mindedly enjoyed country music, especially the music of Alan Jackson. Clark's sense of humor and love for others was like a magnet that drew his family and friends together. He was a proud grandpa to two-year-old grandson, Liam. Clark Gilbertson surrendered his life after a courageous battle with cancer, on November 24, 2016.
He will be missed by Lori Johnson of Wadena, MN, the mother of Adam and Alison; his two children, Adam Johnson of New York Mills, MN, and Alison (significant other, Tanner Olson) Johnson of Flandreau, SD, and their son, Liam; his brother, Ed Gilbertson of Breckenridge; a nephew, Jeff Gilbertson and his children, Sean and Kristin; a niece, Justina Gilbertson and her daughter, Alana. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Betty; and his sister, Ruth Bergland.
