Cynthia "Cindy" Kay Amdahl, 59, of Kent, MN, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. The funeral will be 11:00AM, Monday, December 9 at Hope Lutheran Church in Summit, SD with Reverend Justin Neugebauer officiating. The interment will be at Oscoela Cemetery #2, near Summit.
Cindy was born in Milbank, SD, on July 15, 1954 third of six children, born to Noel and Lorraine (Dobson) Lauritsen. She attended schools in Watertown, SD and Wilmot, SD. Her childhood was filled with fond memories of her grandparents, siblings, and many pets.
On March 27, 1971, Cindy was united in marriage to Les Amdahl in Watertown, SD. They moved to the Breckenridge area in 1976. She was a cook for many years in the community before her health caused her to retire.
She loved baking with her grandchildren and cooking for her family and friends. She was always quick to share her recipes or a new book she had just read. She loved animals and was known to take in and care for many strays that would cross her path. She could often be found gardening in the warm summer months and making soup on a cold winter day.
Cindy died December 4, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She faced each and every obstacle with patience and a positive attitude. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her fabulous meals; especially her favorite, Thanksgiving Dinner, which was served throughout the year.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Lori (Marty) Borgen of Claire City, SD; her 2 sons, Jamey Amdahl of Breckenridge, MN; Kelly Amdahl of Kent, MN; her grandchildren, Levi and Luke Kohlhase, Gavin, Kierstin, and Hayden Amdahl; her great-grandson, Zander Kohlhase; her sisters, Linda (Chuck) Munson of Williston, ND, Tammy (Dale) Argo of Peever, SD, Michelle (Joe) Ceretti of Rapid City, SD; and her brother, Mike (Mary) Lauritsen of Watertown, SD.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Les; her parents, Noel and Lorraine; and her brother, Terry.
