David Meyer

David Louie Meyer, 74, of Wahpeton, ND died at on September 28, 2012 at St. Francis Health Care Campus in Breckenridge, MN, under the care of Riveredge Hospice and surrounded by his loving family. The visitation will be on Monday, October 1 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge from 5:00PM to 7:30PM with a rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 6:30 and a prayer service at 7. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 2 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton at 10:30AM, with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Father Dale Lagodinski will be the Celebrant. The interment will be at St. Thomas Cemetery in Kent, MN.

David was born on January 28, 1938 in Moorhead, MN to Louie and Selma (Boock) Meyer. He attended rural Comstock, MN schools and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1957. He worked all of his life in maintenance-car, truck, tractors. He was employed at several 'garages' as well as Wil Rich, NDSCS and Maintenance Supervisor at the Leach Home for twelve years, retiring in June of 2004.
On September 19, 1963, David married the love of his life, Ione Marie Johnson, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge, MN. They made their home in Kent until moving to Breckenridge in 1994. They moved to Wahpeton after the flood of '97 where they had lived since. David was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus of Wahpeton, and the Catholic Order of Foresters of Kent, the Eagles Club of Wahpeton, and the Red River Area Sportsman Club of Wahpeton. David had a passion for Ford Trucks, loved to hunt deer and was a skilled woodworker.
David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ione; his brothers and sisters Sylvia (Harlen) Poehls of Moorhead, MN, Margaret Blilie of West Fargo, ND, Walter (Paula) Ernst of Sacramento, CA, Ardys (Paul) Randall of Minneapolis, MN, and Karen (Gene) Prim of Barnesville, MN; his many nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents Louie Meyer and Selma Ernst.
