Dean James Tschakert

Dean James Tschakert, age 70, of Kent, Minnesota, passed away at his residence, after a long illness, under the care of CHI Health at Home and Hospice, on Tuesday, April, 16, 2024. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior to the mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN. Father Leo Moenkedick will be officiating the services. Burial will be held in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Kent. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home.

Dean was born on February 4, 1954, to Mark and Elizabeth (Bulik) Tschakert and grew up in Kent, MN, where he attended school After graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1973, Dean dedicated himself to farming alongside his brother Larry. He remained a devoted lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent. 

When he wasn’t farming, Dean found joy in various activities such as riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, snowmobiling, driving his Polaris Ranger, Ford Mustang, and Dodge Challenger cars. An outdoor enthusiast at heart, he cherished moments spent fishing by the water's edge. Among his companions were his beloved cats Oreo and Cookie.

Dean will be greatly missed by his brother, Larry (Midge) Tschakert, of Kent, MN; sister, Kathy Tschakert, of Avon, MN; sister-in-law, Colleen Tschakert, of Rockville, MD; nieces and nephews, Myron (Casey) Tschakert, Lora (Eric) Drewlow, Maria (Geoffry) Leinenweber, Addie Tschakert, Elizabeth (Erick) Reim, Annie Dulka, Katy Wittrock, Louis (Katie) Wittrock III, William (Josie) Wittrock, and many great nephews, and great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Elizabeth Tschakert; brother, Darrell Tschakert; and sister, Patti Tschakert.
