DeLayne, (Butch to his friends), was born in Barnesville, MN, on April 24, 1941, one of six children born to Roy and Martha (Dobler) Perkins. His formal education began in Barnesville then continued in Wahpeton, ND, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1960. Immediately following high school, Butch entered the United States Air Force at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas. He trained and served as Military Police and was honorably discharged in 1961. In 1974, Butch began managing Trailer City Trailer Court in Breckenridge, which later was renamed D & L Mobile Home Park. Then, in 1983, Butch purchased this park from his mother, Martha Iken.
While his son, Duane, was in high school, Butch highly regarded the opportunities to watch him play in sporting events all over the area. He also enjoyed taking Duane to local bridge and road construction projects.
Butch is survived by his son, Duane (Mandy) Perkins of Crystal, MN, and their children Reid and Tanner; his siblings, Patricia Hauf of Ontario, OR, Virginia (Jim) Klein of Breckenridge, MN, DiAnntha Standy of Fergus Falls, MN, Myron Perkins of Mt.
