Doris Ann Huelsman, 74 of Foxhome, MN passed away at St. Francis Nursing Home on November 14, 2010. The funeral is Saturday, November 20 at 10:30 am. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. The visitation is Friday November 19 from 4-7 with a prayer service at 7 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. The interment is at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN
Doris was born to Herman and Alma (McLaughlin) Muehler on January 30, 1936 in Wahpeton, ND. She grew up and attended schools in Fairmount graduating in 1954. She married Arlo Huelsman on June 26, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Foxhome, MN. From that point forth they made their home in Foxhome- raising their 6 children there. Doris was civic minded, helping in many ways around her community and church. She was a Campfire Girls leader, Cub Scout and 4-H leader, a volunteer on the Foxhome Fire Dept., was on church council for St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a member of St. Mary's Mission Circle. One of her greatest joys in life was raising her children and being active in their lives. But when they left home, she began working at Minn-Dak Sugar Beet Plant and also worked at 4-Seasons Plant Center.
In her spare time, Doris loved to garden, enjoyed canning and was especially famous for her pickles. She was a great cook and was an accomplished seamstress. She welcomed the times she could go traveling and do some fishing. It has been said that she could out fish all those in her family. She had an open door policy for her children and their friends.
Doris is survived by her husband Arlo Huelsman of Foxhome, MN; her children, Gloria (Bob) Thelen of Glenwood, MN; Anita (Steve) Willprecht of Wahpeton, ND; Joseph (Renae) Huelsman of Grand Forks, ND; Dean Huelsman of Foxhome, MN; Karen (Don) Ritter of Morris, MN; Lisa (Tom) Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN. 15 grandchildren and 8 great–grandchildren; her sisters, Alice Ellsworth of Breckenridge, MN; Elaine Mitchell of West Fargo, ND; Betty Bohn of West Fargo, ND; Shirley (Greg) Wegscheid of Staples, MN; Sharon Solberg of Bismark, ND; Darlene Carlson of Otesego, MN; Linda (Roger) Steffens of New Effington, SD, and Patty (Dave) Zietlow of Great Bend, ND; her brothers, Darrel (Scarlette) Muehler of Colonial Heights, VA and Herman (Connie) Muehler of Vesta, MN. Doris is preceded by her parents Herman and Alma (McLaughlin) Muehler; her sisters, Elsie, Helen, and Phyllis and her grandson, Nathan Heily.
