Breckenridge, MN - Edward E. Meyer, a loving father, cherished grandfather, and beloved friend, passed away on November 24, 2023, at the age of 87 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Edward will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, resilient spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Born on September 28, 1936, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, Edward was the son of Edward and Mildred Meyer. Throughout his life, Edward embraced the simple pleasures and found contentment in leading a humble existence.

Edward received his education at St. Mary’s and Breckenridge High School, where he graduated with his classmates in 1955. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the National Guard of Wahpeton, ND, dedicating 22 years of his life to serving his country. Edward retired from his military service in March of 1996, leaving behind an honorable legacy.

Edward had a deep appreciation for hospitality and a strong work ethic. Throughout his life, he immersed himself in various jobs that he truly enjoyed. From working at the local bowling alley to driving a taxicab in Wahpeton, ND, Edward's friendly demeanor and attention to detail made him a favorite among customers. He also served the community as a dedicated member of the Breckenridge fire department for 12 years.

On July 25, 1959, Edward embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married Donna Marohl at Grace Lutheran Church in Breckenridge. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy and cherished memories.

In his spare time, Edward indulged in hobbies that brought him immense pleasure. He had a passion for bowling, reading, and cherishing the simplicity of watching westerns on television. An avid collector, he amassed a marvelous collection of electric trains, toy cars, and trucks.

Devoted to his faith, Edward was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND. He faithfully attended services and found solace and strength within the church community.

Edward also had a heart for giving and spreading joy. For many years, he donned the red suit and played the role of Santa Claus, bringing joy and laughter to countless families during the holiday season. Additionally, he cheered on the Minnesota Vikings football team with unwavering support.

Edward E Meyer will be remembered as a kind-hearted, compassionate, and devoted family man who cherished the simple pleasures of life. He lived a life defined by his deep devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving sons, Bruce Meyer, of Cloquet, Minnesota, Thomas Meyer, and his wife Carolyn of Breckenridge, Minnesota and daughter, Lori (Robert) Kirkeby, Fargo, North Dakota. Edward's presence will continue to be cherished by his grandchildren: Stephanie Pausch, Wahpeton, North Dakota Samantha (Anthony) Meacham, Colorado, Chad Meyer, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Shannon (Andrew) Winn, Noel (Chris) Salo, and Kasey (Andy) Murray, all of Cloquet, Minnesota, and Christopher (Monica) Bond; his great-grandchildren, Mirabella Pausch, Jace Pausch, Ivan Meacham, Makenah Bond, Macy Bond, Miles Bond, Logan Salo, Mayson Salo, Braydon Salo, Danica Winn, Brooklyn Winn, Jaxson Murray, Aiden Murray, and Parker Kozloski. Brother, James’s "Dick" Meyer.

Edward's compassionate and caring nature extended beyond his family circle to his dear friends at the Bank of the West and Dr. Mitskog's office - their support and companionship were a source of great comfort to him.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mildred Meyer, beloved wife, Donna, with whom he shared many treasured memories. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Alan Meyer, brother Richard Meyer, sister Marie Hickman, brother-in-law Dennis Hickman, and sister-in-law Mary Meyer.

A funeral service to honor to celebrate Edward's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. Reverend Matthew Tooman will be officiating the service. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Edward are invited to gather and share their cherished memories, offering solace and support to one another during this difficult time.

Edward's legacy will live on as the memories of his selflessness, kindness, and genuine love for others continue to inspire all who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a guiding light for us all.
