Elizabeth Johnson, 90, Wheaton, MN, formerly of Tintah, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, MN.
Elizabeth "Elsie" was born on October 11, 1915 to Bernard and Clara (Koltes) Beckman in Powers Lake, ND. As a child she moved with her family to Iowa and later moved to Minnesota where she attended school. After her schooling she did housecleaning in the Tintah area.
On September 26, 1933 Elsie was united in marriage to Roy Johnson in Tintah. Roy then built a restaurant/bar in Charlesville, MN and Elsie operated that business when Roy went to work in Alaska. In 1946 they moved to Tintah. In the mid 60's, Elsie was a salesperson for "Studio Girl" cosmetics which she really enjoyed. Roy preceded her in death on September 13, 1978. She continued to live in Tintah until 1997 when she moved to Princeton, MN. In 1999 Elsie moved to Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, MN.
Elsie was member of St. Gall's Catholic Church and St. Catherine's Circle. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking, painting tablecloths and pictures and making latch hook rugs. She especially enjoyed her trips with Roy to Rome, Monaco, Guadalajara, Jamaica, and Hawaii.
Elsie is survived by her children: Joyce (Jerry) Belding, The Villages, FL; Georgine Johnson, Wayzata, MN; Rosie (Rod) Dalziel, Princeton, MN; Mary (Don) Eisterhold, Houston, TX; Ben (Ruth) Johnson, Fergus Falls, MN; Linda (Michael) Reiling, St. Paul, MN; David (Amy) Johnson, East Grand Forks, MN; Michele (Gary) Knupp, Grand Forks, ND; her 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Rufer, Strandsburg, SD; Mickey Schuster, Wheaton, MN; her two brothers, Albert (Ruth) Beckman, Fergus Falls, MN; Rodney (Micki) Beckman, Monument, CO; her sister-in-law, Carol Beckman, Wendell, MN.
She was preceded by, her parents, Bernard and Clara Beckman; her husband, Roy Johnson; her two brothers, Bernard and Lawrence; her four sisters, Pearl, Evelyn, Dorothy, Florence; her infant daughter, Joan; her grandson, Jacob Vathroder; her great-granddaughter, Natasha Dalziel
Visitation: Friday, August 25, 2006, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral: Saturday, August 26, 2006, 10:30 AM at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, MN
