Ellen K. Conzemius, age 78, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at her residence in Breckenridge surrounded by her family and under the care of CHI Hospice. There will be a visitation held at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, with the Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Breckenridge. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Breckenridge at a later date.

Ellen Karleen Conzemius was born on January 10, 1941, in Breckenridge, MN to Nick and Viola (Thiel) Winter. She grew up and attended school in Wahpeton, ND, and graduated in 1959. She obtained a degree as a legal secretary at NDSSS, then began working at the Wilkin County Probate Court.

Elly Mae married the love of her life, Jerry Conzemius (Big Jer), on December 29, 1962. They raised their six children on a farm North East of Breckenridge. The couple retired in 2004 and moved into town.

Ellen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over 50 years and enjoyed serving the church in many different ways. She spent many happy summers at Otter Tail Lake with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was bowling on several different leagues. Ellen’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren; each one held a very special place in her heart.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Breckenridge; her 6 children: Brad (Angie) Conzemius, of Breckenridge, and their children Amber (Dan) Bogenreif, Nic, and Eric; Kim (Court) Holman, of Fargo; Brian (Rochelle) Conzemius, of Breckenridge, and their children Kennedy & Joey; Craig (Jody) Conzemius, of Becker, MN, and their children Matt, Jack & Gracie; Jodi (Brett) Waldera, of West Fargo, ND, and their children Maddie & Zach; and Cory Conzemius, of Madison, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Owen Bogenreif; 3 brothers-in-law: Dick Conzemius, Jim (Chris) Conzemius, and Tom (Jane) Conzemius; 4 sisters-in-law: Carol Winter, Karen (Jim) Arntson, Diane (Mike) Abeln, and Linda Snyder; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 72 years, Molly Beyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Viola; 2 brothers, Wayne and Dan; and 1 sister, Connie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CHI St. Francis-Health at Home, Breckenridge.

Arrangments have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
