Fern Marcella Boeddeker was born near Hillsboro, ND, on August 1, 1914, one of 3 children born to Frank and Lilia Boeddeker. She grew up and attended school at Hillsboro. On May 2, 1936, Fern was united in marriage to Gordon Anderson at Moorhead, MN. They lived in Gardner and Casselton, ND, before moving to rural Breckenridge, where they farmed for many years. Upon Gordon's retirement in 1976, they moved to their lake home at Battle Lake. Gordon passed away in 1983. Fern lived in her own home until October 2010, when at the age of 96, moved into St. Catherine's Living Center. The staff of St. Catherine's treated Fern like family and she received wonderful and loving care until her passing. In her younger years, she was very fond of gardening and being at the lake. She was a long time member of the Wahpeton Eagles Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Kermith (Sue) Anderson of Breckenridge, MN, and Darryl (Joyce) Anderson of Poway, CA; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Brad (fiancée, Shanna, and her daughter Hayley), Scott, Steven, and Cindy; her great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Kacey Anderson; and her former daughter-in-law, Judy Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lilia; her husband, Gordon; and her two brothers, Sonny and Babe.
