Frederick Klein died peacefully at home on May 12, 2006. He was born on July 15, 1909 to Mary (Muntz) and Henry Klein Sr. near Loveland, CO. His family moved near Doran in 1912 and later to Nilsen Township in Wilkin County. On June 14, 1938, he married Anna (Ann) Janu at Kent, MN. Frederick and Ann lived on their farm until their retirement at which point they moved to Breckenridge. Fritz served many years as clerk on his township board. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

In his free time Fritz liked to hunt, fish, and work with anything that had a motor. He especially enjoyed taking time to teach his kids and grandkids. Fritz was the oldest member of the "Over the Hill Gang," hunting until the age of 92. Beside his love of the land, he had a passion for snowmobiling. Teenagers loved to ride trails with him, and he was known by many as "Grandpa Fred." He snowmobiled until the age of 82 when he developed non hodgkins lymphoma.

He and his wife enjoyed dancing, especially the polka. He loved Twins baseball and playing cards with friends and family. His quick humor will be missed.
