George Martin

September 27, 1937 — July 20, 2005

George Martin, 67, of Doran, MN passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2005, at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, MN with Pastor Burt Benson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 24, 2005, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.



George is survived by:     His wife, Annetta; his children, Monte Martin, Moses Lake, WA; David (Melanie) Martin, Wahpeton, ND; Mark (Theresa) Martin, Okanoga, WA; Dora (Michael) Baker, Mounds View, MN; Roy Martin, Hankinson, ND; Thomas Martin, Doran, MN; Ted Martin, Fergus Falls, MN;

his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Meaghan, and Loganne Martin, Okanoga, WA; Jade and Clayton Lily, Wahpeton, ND; his mother-in-law, Luella Drewlow, Breckenridge, MN.

George was preceded in death by, his parents; and his brother Joseph in infancy.



George was born on September 27, 1937 to Gottlieb and Dorthea (Guthmiller) Martin in Grand Forks, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Petersville Township near Pettibone, ND. He grew up and attended school in Petersville Township. In 1963 he attended Diesel School at NDSCS.



George was united in marriage to Alma "Annetta" Drewlow on June 12, 1965 in Christ Lutheran Church in Wolverton, MN. They lived in the Breckenridge area until they moved to Doran in 1989. He worked for Al's Truck Stop, Kost Brothers, Wil-Rich, and Raun when he retired in 1991 due to his health. George served as the Mayor of Doran from January 1994 to January 1998.



George loved working on diesel trucks and "puttering" around in his shop. He especially loved his grandkids.
