Geraldine Mary Arnhalt, 85 of Kent, MN passed away at St. Francis Health Care Campus on Friday, May 11, 2012. The visitation is at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, May 13 from 4 to 7 pm with a prayer service at 7and Monday morning from 9 to 10 am at the funeral home. The funeral is Monday, May 14 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent, MN at 10:30 am with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Interment is at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Kent.
Geraldine "Gerry" was born in Mantador, ND on February 12, 1927 to Peter and Ella (Foertsch) Krump. She grew up on the family farm on the west side of Hankinson, ND and attended school at St. Francis Academy through the 8th grade. Gerry helped on the farm until marrying the love of her life, Donald Arnhalt on May 20, 1947. They made their home and raised their nine children on his family farm near Kent. Gerry was a dedicated, hard-working wife and mother and worked side by side with Don. In 1985, they moved into Kent following their retirement from farming.
Although family was Gerry's top priority, she maintained diversified interests including golfing, bowling, dancing, whist club, sewing, caring for her garden and shopping and returning items (can't return things if you don't shop). The times spent with her children, grandchildren and great – grandchildren were very precious to her. Many memories are treasured by Gerry's family and friends who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives.
Gerry is survived by her children Judy Jemtrud of Detroit Lakes, MN; Deborah (Steve) Sheeley of Wahpeton, ND; Tom (Susan) Arnhalt of Wolverton, MN; Brian (Kimberly) Arnhalt of Kent, MN; Lanette (Michael) Adams of Dilworth, MN; Terry (Shelly) Arnhalt of Wolverton, MN; Pamela Emry of Wichita, KS; Kevin (Wanda) Arnhalt of Fargo, ND and Steven Arnhalt of Breckenridge, MN; her siblings Darlene Witt, Hilarion (Hank) Ehlert, Dorothy (Mark) Kaler, Gerald (Grace) Krump, LouElla Freese, Art (Bernice) Krump, Paul (Marlys) Krump, Patricia (Don) Bettise, Elaine (Louis) Nordick, Illa (Dennis) Abel, Emogene "Meg" Parmer, Lee (Shirley) Krump, Lavonne Althoff; her half brother Dennis (Deb) Krump and her step sister Janice (Dale) Lehrke.
Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Donald (2010); her parents Peter and Ella Krump; her brother Lester Krump; two half sisters Angeline Buckhouse and Mary Ann Scheller and a step brother Duane Mumm.
