Gloria Harriet was born on February 17, 1929, the ninth child of Edward and Thora (Hanson) Olson in Charbonneau, North Dakota. She was baptized in Alexandria, ND. In 1931, her family returned to Minnesota, resuming her grandparents’ farm near Erdahl.
She attended District 44 School and was confirmed at Erdahl Lutheran Church. After finishing school, Gloria worked for her parents and several families before taking jobs in Twin Falls, Fargo, and Fergus Falls, MN—where she met Glenn Rezac. They married on October 26, 1954, in Kent, MN, and made their home on the Rezac family farm.
Gloria and Glenn faced early loss with the passing of their infant child at three months but were later blessed through the adoption of a baby boy and girl. They raised their children with strong faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Abercrombie and supported them through college.
Gloria worked in house cleaning and painting until 1993, then served as a housekeeper at Wahpeton Health Care (later St. Catherine’s), retiring in 2010 after 17 years. She continued to volunteer there for many years.
After Glenn’s passing in 1999, Gloria moved to Breckenridge in 2000. She became active in the Eagles Auxiliary, receiving the Golden Eagle award in 2011 and the “Mother of the Year” award in 2016–2017 for her volunteer efforts.
In retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Washington, D.C., and California with her family and companion, collecting souvenir spoons from each state visited. Her happiest times were spent with loved ones at the lake cabin—fishing, playing games, and tending to her flowers.
Gloria had a deep love for dancing, music, and her faith. In 2015, she moved to Fourth Avenue Manor in Wahpeton, where she stayed active with Yahtzee and Scrabble games and cherished time with friends.
Gloria is survived by her children, Jeff Rezac and Kayla Rezac; many beloved nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Nancy Dahl; special friend, Rhonda Weisz; and family friends, Wil Kemp and Chris Cantrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; daughter, Debra Kay; siblings, Irene (James) Endreson, Lillian (Alph) Lindquist, Marian (Bob) Reine, Edith (Harlow) Cunningham, Pearl (Einar) Sande, Edward (Bernice) Olson, and Orville and Oswald Olson; nieces, Eldora and Faye Cunningham; nephews, Arlon, Jay, Bruce, and Terry; great-nephew, Jayme Olson; and Gloria’s companion, Lester Krump.
