Helen Dering

Helen M. Dering, age 88, of Campbell, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at CHI St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Breckenridge, with a visitation two hours prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Carl Berner will be officiating, and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Campbell, MN.

Helen MaryAnn Wallman was born on April 5, 1928, in Hankinson, North Dakota, to Emil and Mary (Schultz) Wallman. She graduated school from Hankinson High School, and worked at Pete & Mike's Cafe in Hankinson.

Helen was united in marriage to Stuart Dering on February 11, 1950 in Hankinson. In 1951, the couple moved to Campbell, where they raised their three children. Helen worked at the café in Campbell, and later at the school as a cook. She then worked at 3M in Wahpeton as a parts assembler, for 13 years until her retirement.

Helen enjoyed bowling, baking, and traveling. She also liked trying her luck at the Casino, and finding good deals bargain shopping. She especially cherished spending time with her family and friends, specifically all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her three children: Gary (Gale) Dering, of Rosseville, TN; Judy (John) Dozak, of Wahpeton, ND; and Peggy (Steve) Mortensen, of Barnesville, MN; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mary; her husband, Stuart; 9 brothers; and 3 sisters.
