H. Virginia Thompson, 85, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Campbell, MN, died March 2, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Her funeral will be held Monday, March 6, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Church, Campbell. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Ysteboe. Visitation will be Sunday, March 5, 2006, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Campbell, MN.

Virginia is survived by:Her children: Stephen and Linda Danielson, Fergus Falls, MN; Bruce and Kelly Danielson, Campbell, MN; Pam and Vince Preston, Frederick, CO; Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Her brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Ruth Ross, Marietta, MN; Her special friend: Bev Komestakes.

She was preceded by: Her parents: Clement and Helen Ross; Her 1st husband: Harry Danielson; Her 2nd husband: Robert Thompson; Her brother: Roger Ross; Her sister: Harriet Bratiger

Helen Virginia Ross was born November 16, 1920, the daughter of Clement and Helen (Luders) Ross in Marietta, MN. She grew up and attended school in Marietta, graduating from Marietta High School. On June 23, 1940, Virginia married Harry Danielson at Marietta. They farmed there for several years then moved to Watertown, SD, where they lived for four years. In 1961, the couple moved to Campbell, MN, where they went into the fertilizer business, owning and operating FieldCrest Fertilizer. Harry died March 10, 1970. Virginia continued to work in the family business for a couple of years. She was married to Robert Thompson on June 15, 1972, in Barnesville, MN. The couple farmed in the Barnesville/Baker area until the late 1970's, when they retired and moved into Barnesville. They enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. Following Robert's death in 1990, Virginia returned to Campbell, where she lived until moving to the York Manor in Breckenridge.

Virginia was an active member of Faith Community Church and Ladies Aid, the Garden Club and Campbell Senior Citizens, and was a past member of the Eastern Star in Campbell. She enjoyed playing cards, board games and Bunco, gardening and flowers. She was famous for making and teaching others to make board afghans, and also known for making hundreds of "scrubbies" she enjoyed giving to her friends. Over the years she also made many quilts for family and friends. She had a passion for "collecting" and enjoyed getting her grandchildren involved.
