Irene Gladys Gullickson, 99, of Fargo, ND formerly of Christine, ND died on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Bethany Homes, Fargo. The funeral will be at Christine Lutheran Church in Christine, ND on Friday, November 9 at 11:00AM. Pastor Sarah Larsen Tade will be officiating. There will be a visitation two hours prior to the service from 9 to 11:00AM. Interment is at Pioneer Cemetery near Christine.
Irene was born on June 26, 1913 in Walsh County, Adams ND; one of four children born to Bennett and Inga (Elton) Erickson. She attended country school near Adams. Irene was united in marriage to Harold Gullickson on June 29, 1932 in Fairdale, ND. They began their life together living and working on Harold's family farm. In 1945, they bought a farm near Christine and side by side they worked the farm and raised their 3 children. Harold preceded her in death in 1981. Irene moved to Fargo for a short period of time, and then made her home in Wahpeton. In 2008, she moved in with her daughter, Joyce. She finished life's journey at the Bethany Homes in Fargo.
In her spare time, Irene loved to crochet. She treasured all the family gatherings; the memories made and laughter shared. And until recently, she enjoyed the freedom of getting in the car and driving.
Irene is survived by her son Curtis (Terri) Gullickson of Broomfield, CO; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren; and her sister Lillian Vigen of Hillsboro, ND.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents Bennett and Inga; her son Roger; her daughter Joyce; her 2 brothers Chester and Ernest Erickson.
