Janice Marie McCullough, 73 died Friday April 2 at the St. Francis Health Care Campus. The funeral will be on Friday April 9, 2010 at 1:00pm at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN. Pastor Terry Tilton will be officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens of Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Janice McCullough began her life in Breckenridge, MN on August 8, 1936. She was the daughter, and only child, of Frank and Marge (Durst) McCullough. After graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1954, Janice attended her first 2 years of college at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND and received her Associates Degree. She continued her education at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN where she achieved her bachelors degree in English with a minor in Spanish. After graduating in 1958, Janice went to work as the Intermediate Accounting Clerk for Wilkin County Highway Department where she was employed for about 25 years.

Janice was involved in the community Musical Art Club for many years and built lifelong friendships through it. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Breckenridge and their choir.

Janice was passionate about reading- whether it was a novel or a newspaper- she could be seen reading something. As a longtime resident (since 1997) of St. Francis Nursing Home, she had been active as a volunteer in the coffee shop, loved crafts and needlepoint, and was the ‘in-house expert on birds’. She will be remembered as a bright, educated woman, a snappy dresser, and a good friend.

Janice is survived by her cousins: Diane Mell, Mankato, MN; Anita Riese, North Mankato, MN; Jenny Norton, North Mankato, MN; Lonny Anderson, Mankato, MN

Janice is preceded by her parents: Frank and Marge (Durst) McCullough
