John Hiedeman

October 6, 1949 — June 24, 2016

John Arthur Hiedeman, 66, of Breckenridge, MN, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 24, 2016. The visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, on Thursday, June 30, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge; followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. Pastor Wendell Kelm will be officiating.
John was born on October 6, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN, one of six children born to Earl and Jacquelin (Johnson) Hiedeman. He was raised on the family farm near Doran, MN and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1967. He entered the US Army in 1968. Following his military service, John returned to Breckenridge and was employed at the 3-M plant in Wahpeton, ND. In 1990, he completed the Graphic Arts program at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.
John looked forward to deer hunting and staying at the family hunting cabin. He was an avid collector which led him to many flea markets and antique shops. He had a knack for working on cars and a propensity for speed and motorcycles. He was a proud father of six children and often remarked that they were the best part of him.
John is survived by his children, Justin (Katie) Hiedeman of Seattle, WA, Joshua (Shiela) Hiedeman of Boise, ID, Shelly Hiedeman and Sheila Hiedeman both of Green Bay, WI, and Bruce Hiedeman of Breckenridge; his eight grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Jerry (Diane) Hiedeman of Lacey, WA, Tom Hiedeman of Battle Lake, MN and Brian (JoAnn) Hiedeman of Fergus Falls, MN; his sister, Jill (Mike) Beltz of Breckenridge, MN. John was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jacqueline; his son John; and his brother, Bruce.
