John Pratt

March 24, 1921 — April 14, 2008

John Clifford Pratt, 87, Breckenridge, MN, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, MN. Pastor Mark Manning will be officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Breckenridge. There will be visitation on Friday, April 18, 2008, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, MN. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 62 years: Verna Pratt, Breckenridge, MN; His daughter: Diane (Steve) Baker, Michigan, ND; His son: Col. Ronald (Judy) Pratt of Ramstein AFB, Germany; His 5 grandchildren: Shannon (Tom) Presnell, and Brandon Baker, Grand Forks, ND; Andy (Erin) Pratt, St. Paul, MN; Mark Pratt, USAF Academy, CO; Scott Pratt of Germany; His 3 great-grandchildren: Morgan and Jacob Presnell and Henry Pratt; Many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: His parents: Warren and Ida Pratt; His 3 brothers: Wendell, Harvey and Warren; His sister: Dorothy Nesvold

John Clifford Pratt was born March 24, 1921, at Gully, MN, the son of Warren C. and Ida Beth (Knable) Pratt. He attended school there, and in the Trail, MN area.

As a young man, Cliff moved to the Doran, MN area, where he was employed at the Kerch farm for several years. On October 16, 1945 he was united in marriage to Verna Jacobs at Breckenridge Lutheran Church in Breckenridge, MN.

Cliff entered the U. S. Army in 1945, and was stationed several places on the west coast. Following his discharge they lived and farmed in the Breckenridge area for 36 years.

Cliff was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Eagles Aerie No. 2749, and the Wahpeton Senior Citizens, where he enjoyed playing pinochle. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and recently enjoyed having all of them come to help celebrate his birthday.

Pallbearers will be Jim Pratt, Michael Pratt, Jim Olson, Roger Jacobs, Jerry Nesvold, Jerry Humann
