Joyce Burvee Christensen was born in Fairmount, ND to Frank James Burvee and Eleanora (Meyer) Burvee on July 26, 1931. She grew up and attended school in Fairmount. After graduating in 1949, Joyce attended College in Minneapolis, MN for Dental Assistance. Upon returning to her home town area, she landed a position as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Jack Pfister in Wahpeton, ND.

On November 10, 1952 Joyce was united in marriage to Lloyd Christensen at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fairmount, ND. They began their life together in Breckenridge, MN where they raised their six children.

Joyce quickly became an avid Breckenridge Cowboy sports fan and you could see her and Lloyd attending many of the sporting events, even after their children had graduated. Joyce loved to quilt and was fervent about making quilts for her children, grandchildren and special occasions. She was never without her knitting needles and spent countless hours over the years knitting and sewing for family and friends.

Joyce enjoyed the serenity of the lake and built many pleasant memories there with her children and the friends she appreciated so much. She had a zeal for canning jams and jellies but had a particular flair for choke cherry syrup and pickles. Joyce had a passion for traveling and even though she and Lloyd had traveled to just about every state, she was especially fond of going to see the children and grandchildren and spending time with them.

Joyce will always be remembered for her calming and reassuring words of encouragement as a wife, mother and friend.
