Lawrence was born in his grandmother’s house in White Rock, SD on March 1, 1933 to Lawrence and Mary (Sauter) Burlison and soon after returned to his parent’s farm near Fairmount , ND . The family lived at several locations in the Fairmount area. He attended school in Fairmount and then spent two years at a country school near Tyler , ND before returning to Fairmount School . After his father became ill he farmed the home farm.

On September 8, 1954 Larry was united in marriage to Myrna Kurtz at Fairmount and lived at the home farm. Larry worked summers doing road construction in addition to farming. In 1964, they moved to Breckenridge , MN and worked for Zitzow Plumbing and at the Scotchman’s Bar for Pee Wee Rehm. In January of 1968 Larry began working for the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation and worked there for 26 years.

Larry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer and his many fishing trips to Lake of the Woods . If someone said, “Let’s go fishing!” Larry grabbed his tackle box. He also loved to travel with Myrna and was known to do it at a moments notice, not necessarily knowing where, and letting everyone know as they were going. Larry also liked playing cards and was strict on the rules and enjoyed music and wished he could play a musical instrument and sing. After retirement, he became involved in the Hawk Museum in Wolford , ND and enjoyed working on the old equipment. He was also involved in the Rosholt Threshing Bee and the Tyler Plow Down.

Larry never met a stranger and he loved to visit. His family was most important to him and he was especially proud of his grandkids. Even as he traveled he called almost everyday just to hear their voices.
