Lawrence Schillinger

July 18, 1930 — February 13, 2016

Lawrence (Charlie) Schillinger, 85, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND. The family is honoring Lawrence's wishes to not have any services. You may send condolences to Dianne Buus, 5158 Helffinger Road, Finland, MN 55603.
Lawrence was born July 18, 1930, one of five children born to Joseph and Anna (Nennig) Schillinger. He attended country school near Doran and worked on the family farm until joining the U.S. Army in 1952. During his enlistment, Lawrence spent a period of time in Germany before he was honorably discharged in 1954. Following his military service, he returned to the family farm, where he remained for many years.
On June 16, 1979, Lawrence was united in marriage to Verdella Larsen at the Catholic Church in Tintah, MN. He was a proud member of the Fergus Falls VFW Post 612 and the American Legion Club Post 53 in Breckenridge. Lawrence loved to go ice fishing with his nephew, Tony, and enjoyed family holidays. He will be remembered as a kind man with a heart filled with so much love to give. That love was reflected in being the best husband, father, and grandfather a family could ever ask for.
Lawrence is survived by his four step-children, Linda (Doug) Korkowski of Springfield, IL, Donald (Kathy) Larsen of Primm Springs, TN, Yvonne (Patrick) Wells of Hermitage, TN, and Dianne (Bob) Buus of Finland, MN; his 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; his two sisters, Genevieve Zoucha of Tintah, MN and Bernice (Raymond) Barth of Thief River Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, Verdella; his parents, Joseph and Anna; and his brothers, David and Robert.
