Leland "Lee" Roach was born June 22, 1922 at Tenney in Traverse County, MN to Frank and Ethel (Asquirth) Roach. He attended grade school in Tenney and High School in Fairmount, ND~ graduating in 1940. After high school, Lee worked on the family farm for a few years then entered the US Army in 1943. He served in World War II as a truck driver in Germany and France. After his military service was complete, Lee returned home to rural Tenney. In 1974, Leland was united in marriage to Alicia Tamez Cantu and together they raised their son Lee, Jr. and farmed their land. He remained on the farm until 1980 when he retired. Soon after retiring, he moved off the family farm and into Tenney. He then moved into Nashua, Breckenridge (Park Manor) and then back to Tenney in 2008. Later in his life, Lee and his brother David wintered in the south.
Lee was a lifetime member of the VFW in Fergus Falls. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, loved hunting, and had a fascination for and a vast knowledge of trains and railroads. He treasured his time with his children and grandchildren.
