Lois Lorraine Picotte (Wall)

Lois Picotte, 86, of Wolverton, ND passed away June 18, 2023 at Fargo Eventide.

Lois Lorraine was born on July 2, 1936, to Alma (Kval) and Frank Wall.  She attended country school near their home through 8th grade followed by high school in Lisbon, graduating in 1954.  She furthered her education at Valley City State College and after receiving her degree, Lois taught elementary school in both Lamoure and Breckenridge.

On November 19th, 1966, Lois married Lyle Picotte at Anselm Lutheran Church in Ransom County, ND.  Lois taught school until their son Lowell was born, after which she worked with Lyle as a bookkeeper, cook, and homemaker on their farm near Wolverton.

Lois was known for her incredible cooking skills and hospitality towards others. She always had fresh buns and rolls on her table.   During the busy planting and harvesting season, she fed many farm crews with a well-laden table for dinner and lunches of sandwiches and homemade bars in the field. Lois had a heart geared toward service in her community; she was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, the League of Women Voters, Lakes and Prairies Community Action Partnership, and Wilkin County Homemakers Club. She also loved traveling with Lyle and went on numerous road trips all over America and Canada.

She is survived by her son, Lowell Picotte (Deanna), Fargo ND; two grandchildren, Lydia Picotte, Landon Picotte; sister Carole (Darrel) Magnuson; brothers James (Lois) Wall, Roland (Wanda) Wall; nieces, nephews, and friends who will always love her.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents Alma and Frank Wall, husband Lyle Picotte, sisters JoAnn (Ronnie) Hankel and Mary (Larry) Moxness, and brother Dennis Wall.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton with visitation beforehand from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Mitchell Township Cemetery.  Lois’ service will be live streamed on her obituary page.
